Technical Assistant (full-time)

Job description

In the Technical Assistant role you are a key part of the technical department assisting our technical manager and superintendents. You will be purchasing equipment, managing logistics and movements of spares for maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting as well as dry-dockings and refits at our own facility or shipyards. Besides this you will assist the Technical manager with day to day planning and handling insurance claims. You will be a key person in sourcing equipment, consumables and spare parts.

The Windcat fleet is built on a common platform with standardised components making it efficient to manage and use experience to reduce faults throughout the fleet.

Working tasks

  • Assist Superintendents with preparations for maintenance and repairs to be completed on the vessels, e.g. arranging transport of spares, availability of cranes, welders, and other suppliers
  • Lead buyer for technical department
  • Negotiation of contracts with (key) suppliers
  • Raising of purchase orders in Oracle system
  • Manage logistics and transport of spares and equipment (including hazardous goods) between suppliers, warehouses and various operational locations
  • Together with warehouse supervisors manage stock levels in various storage locations
  • Maintain, track and return of all rental equipment
  • Assist with Technical Administration

Job requirements

  • Team player
  • Proactive, being able to perform the work that need to be done independently
  • Fluent in English in speech and writing
  • Administrative skills
  • In possession of driving license
  • Experience with maritime engineering beneficial
