About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role offers the potential to become permanent, depending on business needs at the end of the contract period. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join a fast paced finance function and grow their career. Flexible / part time working can be considered.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with monthly accounting tasks, accounts payable, company reporting, and providing support on payroll, VAT, and accounts receivable (AR) matters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the accounts receivable (AR) function, including the creation of customer invoices.
  • Process and verify engineer timesheets, ensuring approvals are obtained and forwarding them to payroll.
  • Prepare and maintain various financial reports, including utilisation summaries, weekly revenue updates, new build reports, and QHSE/vessel-related data.
  • Provide assistance to the accounts payable (AP) team as required.
  • Review and verify credit card and expense entries in NetSuite, assisting users with correct uploads.
  • Handle fuel reclaims and ensure proper documentation and processing.
  • Arrange travel for the Technical Department and assist with Enterprise-related queries for the Accounts Payable team.

Key skills & experience:

  • Experience in a similar finance or accounting role is preferred.
  • AAT (level 2 or 3) qualified or working towards
  • Strong understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
